The Importance of 'Conspiracy Theories'

On September 11, 2001, one of the most striking and shocking incidents took place: two high-jacked airplanes of United Airlines crashed into the two towers of the World Trade Center and, finally, brought them down. Another kidnapped Boeing was flown into the Pentagon and a forth one crashed down before hitting it´s aim due to the commitment of flight passengers who attacked the terrorists on board. This day brought death to round about 3000 people. Among them: fire fighters, police officers, employees and staff members working in the WTC, as well as the plane crews and passengers. Not only one nation, but nations all over the world, left behind traumatized and in fear, trying to cope with what had happened. Revengefulness caused by grief and despair arose in many hearts, and so did the question for the guilty party. The George W. Bush administration were already prepared to provide a culprit: Osama Bin Laden and the Afghan terroristic organisation al-Qaeda. In the following years, doubtful governmental descisions concerning internal and external US politics (including the USA Patriot Act and -yet- two wars) were based on these attacks by the former US government. Within a short period of time the first inconsistencies concerning the events of '9/11' led to questions and a public debate. The government, the mass media and the wider public call these questions 'conspiracy theories' and those who doubt the official version of '9/11' traitors or oddballs. Those accuse the US government to be involved in '9/11' or even to be the responsibles. Could that be true or just a made up crime stories for Hollywood movies? This essay contains just a few facts and questions that make me doubt the official version of '9/11' and my attitude against 'conspiracy theories'.

The US history teaches us about (at least planned) “False Flagg Operations”[1]. In 2004 Bush´s former Secretary of Treasury Paul O´Neill said in an interview with reporter Ron Suskind from CBS that in January 2001, three days after Bushs official swearing-in as president of the USA, Bush sought to find a way to invade Iraq[2]. Some say, the 'Think Tank' “Rebuilding America´s Defenses – Strategy, Forces & Resources For a New Century”[3] is very dubious in relation with 9/11. Former Secretary of Treasury for Ronald Reagan Roy McGoren who also worked as a governmental press advisor and CIA analyzer for following presidents confessed that the US government planned and performed diverse terror attacks to blame their enemies in the aftermath. So does McGorens assistant during the Reagan era Dr. Paul Craig Roberts[4]. Osama Bin Laden himself said that he was NOT responsible for the attacks and the Bin Laden tape that shows a right-hander who does not look the real Osama who is a left-hander[5]. Michael Hugh Meacher (British Labour party member) and former MI5 agent David Shayler and his partner speak of 7/7 as a “False Flagg Operation” planned, coordinated and performed by the US and British government to legitimate their 'war against terror'[6]. Among others, former German federal minister Andreas von Buelow, former Italian president Francesco Cossiga and experts such as John Loftus (former US government prosecutor and former Army intelligence officer) claim that an attack like '9/11' can not be performed by external forces and that it must had been an “Inside Job”. Diverse questionable stock bargains and investements[7]. Larry Silverstein[8] or WTC7 that crashed down eight hours after the towers collapsed[9], while others did not[10]. Pilots doubt that it is possible for a rather untrained person[11] to direct a Boeing 757 with over 850 km/h into a building such as the Pentagon. Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld[12] and his contradictionary speeches. Celebrities such as Takeshi Kitano or Charlie Sheen and film makers such as Roger Moore and Alex Jones[13] or writers like Noam Chomsky and John Pilger, demand answers. The US government decided to dement, not to comment or try to cover up things, like the following: There are lots of cameras set up around the Pentagon that must have taped the airplane crashing into the building. All were confiscated, immediately. Those who were published show an explosion, but no airplane[14]. Experts of mining and demolition companies say that the fall of the towers and WTC 7 look like controlled demolitions and recordings show additionally explosions, before those buildings crashed down. The WTC was a gold depot for over 1,000,000,000 US$ in gold. After the collapse of the twin towers New Yorks former mayor Rudolph Giuliani stated that all of the 200,000,000 US$(!) were found[15]. The gas pipeline in Afghanistan, the Oil of Iraq and, now, the offending of Iran to have nuclear weapons of mass destruction. Many more dubious connections between the Bush government and '9/11' are presented in the alternative media. All those people and webpages, liars? All those questions, evidences, statements and facts, a betrayal on the people of the United States? All those tapes faked? All these connections just accidents? Maybe! It can be possible.

Nevertheless, some facts I have been inspired to research about can not be denied and evoke questions:

February 13, 1975: A fire broke out in the North Tower between the 9^th and 11^th floor and burnt for hours[16]. It did not fall down. February 1, 1974: A skyscraper with 25 floors in Sao Paulo, Brasilia, burnt for four hours between the 12^th und 15^th floor. 179 dead, no crash down[17]. February 2009: Fireworks ignited a fire that burnt for six hours and destroyed the TVCC tower (159m high, still standing) in Peking, completely[18]. It is said, the steel beams of the twin towers melted, due to the heat of the burning kerosine. Steel can stand a heat of 1536°C.  Kerosine´s regular burning temperature: 600°C and it burns away within seconds. If the heat was able to melt the steel: How come the passport of one the hijackers could be found beneath the rubble? The plane that hit the Pentagon was, allegedly, pulverized. Among other things, its engines were made of titan that has a melting point of 1688°C[19]. These evidences can be verifyed by everyone, just as the pictures of the hitten Pentagon: There  are no wholes that must have been left behind by the wings and engines[20]. Very odd: Flight recorders of airplanes obtained to stand heat until 1000°C[21], but two out of four black boxes were not able to be found. At this point, I remind the passport that 'was' found. And, at least, four of the blamed 19 hijackers are still alive[22]!

All this is reviewable for everyone. These facts are not made up by 'conspiracy theorists'.

If the events of '9/11' were true, why did Bush prevented a public investigation?

In the US, a defendant is guilty until his innocence is proven. Although so many signs accuses the US government it only has to defend itself towards 'conspiracy theorists', since even congress was inable to achieve a new public investigation of '9/11'. The USA have the highest consumptions of natural resources worldwide[23], so I agree with 'conspirators' '9/11' was a good pretense for America to invade Iraq which owns one of the biggest oil deposits of the world. I even allege, the US government was at least (as head of one of the most guarded nations) aware of the oncoming attacks. Can conspirators proove the Bush warmongers were behind '9/11'? At least, they pressurize the officials to deal with the facts, again and again. Even in the US, more and more people join groups such as the “9/11 Truth Movement”. Doubting the official version they demand answers. It´s a thin line between truth and fiction and it is up to everyone himself what to believe and what not, but in my opinion, 'conspiracy theories' are important (even if some seem to suffer from a lack of realism) to press the US government to reveal the truth one day. It can not all be just fiction! It can not be held back forever. This overwhelming data basis and thousands of people worldwide accuse the Bush administration to hide the whole truth to cut back the rights of people, by the USA Patriot Act, war and security instructions other nations are (too eagerly) willing to follow. Using the mass media as a medium of propaganda to enforce their intentions, manipulating the public and make it believe in an omnipresent threat[24] by (islamic) terrorism. Terror is not bound on one nation, but the terror of '9/11' seems to be. Referring to convincing 'conspiracy wackos', it happened to sustain the will of a greedy few, just as it happens every day, everywhere. The USA are no exception. The Bush administration brought its terror covered in the garment of democracy, liberty and freedom to other nations, just as it happened before. What about our freedom? With our telephones intercepted and housings searchable under 'sufficiently suspicion', due to the threat of terrorism enforced by the media and our governments. George Orwell would be scared, if he was able to witness his anticipations becoming true. Worse than he thought!

So why do some people still do not doubt the official version of '9/11'? In early 2006, I spoke to a friend´s mother in Cranston, Rhode Island (USA), on the telephone and asked her what was her opinion about all these rumours about Bush being involved in '9/11'. She answered: “If I can not trust in my president and in my country, whom should I trust then?”
